주세페 체사리가 1612~1613년에 제작한 이 프레스코는 툴루스 호스틸리우스 왕의 치세(기원전 7세기)에 벌어진 것으로 전해지는 호라티이와 쿠리아티이의 전설적 결투를 그린다. 로마의 호라티이 형제들이 알바 롱가의 쿠리아티이와 싸웠고, 이 대결의 결과가 전쟁의 승패를 결정해 알바 롱가가 로마에 복속되는 계기가 되었다. 작품은 로마 역사에서의 용맹과 운명이라는 주제를 부각한다.
