Temple of the Mensores

296
This temple, erected in the early 2nd c. AD, formed part of a larger complex linked to the guild of grain measurers (mensores ) in Ostia. Its high podium and central plan emphasized the sacredness of commercial fairness. The building celebrated those who ensured the integrity of food distribution in Rome’s main port city.
