Hunting Scene Mosaic

This black-and-white mosaic (2nd c. AD) depicts hunters pursuing wild animals amid elaborate vegetal motifs. Such scenes, common in Roman baths, symbolize man’s dominion over nature and celebrate vitality, strength, and the pleasures of leisure within the cultured environment of the thermae.
