This black-and-white mosaic from the House of the Dioscures(c. 2nd c. AD), depicts the Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux, protectors of sailors and merchants. Surrounded by maritime and geometric motifs, the imagery reflects both the house’s dedication and Ostia’s deep connection to seafaring trade and divine protection.
