Rodin MuseumMusée Rodin
Rodin Museum occupies the 18th c. Hôtel Biron, where Auguste Rodin worked in his final years and, in 1916, offered France his studio contents in return for a museum dedicated to his art. Opened in 1919, it preserves not just bronzes such as The Thinker but the plasters, fragments, and studies that show how his figures grew out of The Gates of Hell (begun 1880). In the quiet garden, sculpture and shifting light continue Rodin’s modern vision of the body as thought made visible.
