The Gates of Hell (Sculpture)Auguste Rodin

196
Auguste Rodin’s monumental bronze sculpture, inspired by Dante’s Inferno , was commissioned in 1880. Rodin spent 37 years on this 6-meter-high work, incorporating over 200 figures to explore themes of pain and despair. Iconic figures like The Thinker and The Three Shades originated here. Although unfinished, it was exhibited in 1900, with bronze casts made after Rodin’s death.
