The Gates of Hell, a monumental bronze sculpture by Auguste Rodin, was inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Inferno . Commissioned in 1880, Rodin spent 37 years on this work, incorporating over 200 figures. Standing 6 meters high, it explores themes of pain and despair. Iconic elements like The Thinker and The Three Shades originated here. Though unfinished in 1900, bronze casts were made posthumously.
