Rodin’s The Gates of Hell (commissioned in 1800) draws from Dante’s Inferno . Intended for a Paris museum that was never built, Rodin spent 37 years on this monumental work. It features 180 figures embodying anguish and despair, with iconic sculptures like The Thinker originating here. Although not cast in bronze during Rodin’s lifetime, the first bronze cast was made later, with seven casts existing worldwide.
