The Thinker (Auguste Rodin)Auguste Rodin
The Thinker, originally part of Rodin’s The Gates of Hell (c. 1880), depicts Dante Alighieri in contemplation. A monumental bronze version was installed in 1922. Smaller plaster and bronze casts illustrate Rodin’s creative process. The lost-wax casting method allowed for 28 full-size authorized casts worldwide, highlighting the sculpture’s enduring impact and Rodin’s artistic legacy.
