Rodin’s The ThinkerAuguste Rodin
The Thinker, part of Auguste Rodin’s The Gates of Hell (c.1880), depicts Dante Alighieri in deep thought. A monumental bronze version was installed in 1922. Rodin used the lost-wax method to authorize multiple casts, resulting in 28 full-size versions worldwide. Smaller plaster studies and bronze casts illustrate Rodin’s creative process, highlighting the sculpture’s lasting impact and universal appeal.
