Originally built in the 15th century as a magistrates’ palace, the Palazzo dei Conservatori in Rome was redesigned by Michelangelo in the 16th century, introducing the Giant Order style. Giacomo della Porta completed the design after Michelangelo’s death. The interior, modified over time, houses the Capitoline sculpture collection, including the iconic Capitoline Wolf. The Treaties of Rome, founding the European Economic Community, were signed here in 1957.
