In this fresco (c. 1511), Del Piombo depicts Zephyrus, god of the west wind, exhaling gentle breezes toward Flora, Roman goddess of flowers and spring. The union of wind and bloom evokes renewal and fertility, central to Renaissance celebrations of nature’s harmony.
