The vaulted ceiling in the Corridor of the Grotesques (1517–19) exemplifies the Renaissance revival of ancient Roman grottesche , inspired by Nero’s Domus Aurea, a lavish palace adorned with intricate frescoes. The ceiling features playful mythological scenes, marine creatures, and vegetal patterns reflecting the era's fascination with classical art.
