In this fresco (1518–19), Raphael depicts the gods assembled for Cupid and Psyche’s divine wedding. At the table sit Saturn, Janus, Venus, Ceres, Neptune, Proserpina, Pluto, Juno, and Jupiter, who receives wine from Ganymede. Mercury stands prominently in the foreground, blessing the marriage. The assembly symbolizes cosmic harmony, sanctioning the eternal union of love (Cupid) and the soul (Psyche).
