Will of Napoleon INapoleon Bonaparte
This page is the first codicil to Napoleon’s will, signed at Longwood on Saint Helena on 16 April 1821, a few weeks before his death. Sealed with red wax, it reflects his concern for loyal companions and the fate of his legacy in exile. Preserved at the Archives Nationales, the document embodies the last political gesture of the fallen Emperor, dividing his belongings among faithful attendants and family.
