Prince's ChamberGermain Boffrand
This Rococo chamber (early 18th c.) shows a raised canopied bed framed by red damask walls, gilded boiseries, and a balustrade with upholstered seats. Designed for the Rohan-Soubise princes, it functioned as a ceremonial bedroom where visitors observed formal rituals of waking and retiring. The controlled viewing space demonstrates how aristocratic life merged privacy with staged public display.
