Desk of King Louis-Philippe

61
This desk belonged to Louis-Philippe, the last King of France. In February 1848, during the revolutionary upheaval, insurgents stormed the Tuileries Palace as Louis-Philippe fled Paris. The desk was forcibly opened, leaving visible marks from the break-in. These traces serve as a reminder of the political turmoil that ended the July Monarchy.
