Huari Child Funerary Bundle

67
This Huari funerary bundle (800–1300 AD) from Peru contains the remains of a child aged 4 or 5. The preparation of the deceased was vital for their journey to the afterlife. Wrapped in large textiles, the bundle includes a tunic with stepped and spiral symbols. Human hair braids with thread endings mirror these designs. Such bundles often featured funerary masks, highlighting the cultural significance of death rites, similar to practices in ancient Egypt.
