Ancient Mochica Ceramic Technology
Mochica ceramic technology required meticulous control in pottery production. Red, cream, and white clays, including kaolin, were used as base materials. Mineral pigments, especially iron oxides, colored the engobes and paints. Bone tools, molds, and stamps created intricate designs. Despite occasional production flaws, these ceramics were preserved, reflecting the Mochica’s appreciation for craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
