Paracas Mantle with Feline and Serpent Motifs

60
The Paracas Mantle (1250 BC–1 AD) is woven from camelid fibers and features intricate designs. Its central motif shows two opposing felines with bird-like feet and elongated, serrated bodies resembling serpents. Smaller felines in varied colors appear within each larger feline. The pattern repeats across border and central bands in yellow, green, and black. The interplay of colors creates visual effects, with dark hues casting shadows and yellow generating light, showcasing Paracas artistry.
