Ceramic Bottle with Ancestral Cult Scene

63
This sculptural ceramic bottle from the Santa-Recuay culture (1–800 AD) depicts a funerary cult scene. A central figure, adorned with circular ear ornaments and a feather-like headdress, sits on a platform. Four semi-nude men support a roof-like structure, possibly representing an ancestor’s tomb. Surrounding the scene are five women with small bowls, likely priestesses conducting the ritual.
