Moche Sacrificial Cup and Knife

80
During the Moche civilization’s peak (1–800 AD), warriors were decapitated, and their blood was collected in ceremonial cups as offerings to priests, considered divine intermediaries. Similar knives and cups have been found in tombs of individuals likely involved in these rituals. These artifacts reflect the Moche’s complex religious practices and belief in blood’s sacredness as a conduit to the gods.
