Ceramic Sculptures of Co-Sleeping
These Mochica ceramic bottles (1–800 AD) depict co-sleeping, with a couple engaged in intercourse while the mother nurses an infant. The frequent portrayal of anal intercourse may relate to postpartum infertility from exclusive breastfeeding. This highlights ancient Peru’s cultural views on fertility and family dynamics.
