Paracas Mantle with Feline Motifs
This Paracas mantle (1250 BC–1 AD) features two opposing felines with bird-like feet and serpent-like bodies, forming a rectangular panel. Smaller felines are nested within, showcasing intricate color combinations of yellow, green, and black. This pattern repeats across the border and central bands, creating visual effects of shadow and light. Made from camelid fiber threads, it reflects the Paracas culture’s artistic complexity and symbolic depth.
