Mochica Gold Frontals with Mythical Imagery

77
Mochica Gold Frontals (1–800 AD) adorned the elite in ancient Peru. Made from gold and alloys, these headpieces depicted feline or human faces with feline traits like fangs, alongside condors and plumage-like elements. Mythological creatures, such as a rampant feline blending dragon, bird, and serpent features, also appeared. These emblems symbolized the supernatural power of their wearers through material, color, and iconography.
