In this striking fresco from the Sala di Perseo (1545–46), Perseus deals the fatal blow to the sea monster threatening Andromeda. Painted by Perin del Vaga and his workshop, the heroic act symbolizes triumph over chaos and irrationality—serving as an allegory of Pope Paul III’s moral and spiritual leadership.
