アントワーヌ・ブールデルの《The Dying Centaur》は1911〜1914年に制作され、異教の衰退を象徴している。ブールデルはケンタウロスに自らを重ね、青銅に個人的な省察を織り込んだ。作品には2つのヴァージョンがあり、ひげのあるものとないものが存在し、いずれも約14 × 12 × 4 15/16インチ。神話と近代性が交差する、痛切な瞬間を示す作品である。
