Antoine Bourdelles The Dying Centaur, zwischen 1911 und 1914 geschaffen, symbolisiert den Niedergang des Heidentums. Bourdelle identifizierte sich mit dem Zentauren und verlieh der Bronze eine persönliche Reflexion. Es existieren zwei Versionen: eine bärtige und eine unbärtige, jeweils etwa 14 × 12 × 4 15/16 Zoll. Dieses Werk steht für eine eindringliche Schnittstelle von Mythos und Moderne.
