In this marble sculpture (1523–24), Lorenzetto portrays the Madonna gently holding the Christ Child. Created for Raphael’s tomb in the Pantheon, the work unites maternal tenderness with idealized harmony. Its balanced forms and tranquil expression reflect High Renaissance ideals of beauty, piety, and serenity within Pantheon, Rome’s most sacred architectural space.
