Christ the Redeemer

265
A modern devotional painting of Christ the Redeemer (20th c.) shows Christ frontally, head slightly inclined, right hand raised in blessing and left hand holding a book, framed by a gilded halo. The small panel is set within a richly veined marble aedicule above an iron screen, integrated into the Pantheon’s Baroque chapel architecture. Its Byzantine and Renaissance echoes underline how the former Roman temple remains an active Christian sanctuary.
