These zoomorphic pendants from Costa Rica’s South Pacific region (700–1550) translate mythical beings into animal form. One suggests an otter-like creature; the other coils into a feline body topped by a bird’s hooked beak. Their hybrids reflect a shamanic worldview in which animal powers signaled transformation and access to the spirit realm.
