Diquís Twin-Headed Turtle Pendant
Turtle Pendant. This gold pendant (700–1550) from southern Costa Rica portrays a stylized turtle with two heads, four arms, and clawed limbs. The turtle’s domed shell shape anchors it to earth and water, while the twin heads suggest duality or spiritual vision. In Diquís belief, such hybrid forms symbolized cosmic balance, transformation, and shamanic power.
