This gold disk (700–1550) from the southern Pacific region of Costa Rica embodies the cosmological and ceremonial traditions of the Diquís culture. Its raised circular patterns may symbolize celestial bodies or protective forces. Worn by elites, such ornaments conveyed spiritual power and high social rank, reflecting the intricate social hierarchies and beliefs of the time.
