These natural gold nuggets, including the largest ever found in Costa Rica (2.3 kg), were discovered in the Sierpe River Delta in the country’s southern Pacific region. Such raw gold sources fed Pre-Columbian metallurgy, linking local environments to the ritual and symbolic power of crafted gold objects.
