Diquís Gold Frog Pendant

This gold pendant (700–1550) from southern Costa Rica shows a frog with an ornamented spine of raised beads symbolizing energy flow or spiritual awakening. Its posture and flipper-like feet reflect stylized naturalism. Frogs were sacred in Diquís cosmology, linked to fertility, rain, and transformation between earthly and spiritual realms.
