This Diquís gold pendant (700–1550) from Costa Rica’s South Pacific region depicts a stylized bat, revered for its night vision and association with transformation. The pendant features prominent male genitalia, linking fertility and virility with the bat’s symbolic power. Such imagery may have conveyed shamanic strength or regenerative force.
