256
This white marble bust (198–204) depicts the young Caracalla, produced at the time of his designation as Augustus. With idealized features and formal attire, it projects imperial legitimacy and continuity. Found at the House of the Vestals, it reflects the close ties between imperial image-making and sacred Roman institutions.
