Tecpatl Knives and Ritual Skulls

279
These blades and skulls formed part of sacrificial offerings at the Templo Mayor (15th c.). The tecpatl , a flint knife with a leaf-shaped blade, was the Mexica’s main sacrificial tool. Blood from captives nourished the gods, honoring their mythic self-sacrifice and maintaining cosmic order through ritual death and divine reciprocity.
