Pulque Deity with Yacametztli Ornament
This 15th-c. Mexica sculpture bears the lunar noseplug yacametztli, shaped like a split vessel filled with water or pulque—fermented agave juice central to ritual life. Though direct traces of pulque are rare in Templo Mayor offerings, such adornments and miniature pulque jars affirm its spiritual importance and divine associations.
