This gold pendant (700–1550), from Costa Rica’s southern Pacific region, depicts a bird in flight. The head features a curved beak gripping a frog, while splayed bird feet appear below the body. Such imagery may reflect predation or symbolic power, with the frog representing fertility, rain, or transformation in local cosmologies.
