Hellenistic Prince’s Torso

This close view of the torso and hip belongs to a bronze figure (2nd–1st c. BC) found on the Quirinal Hill. Idealized musculature and a gentle twist follow the heroic nudity associated with Hellenistic rulers, recalling Alexander and the Lysippan canon. The green and pink patina records long burial, while the small plate on the hip reflects later cataloging in the Roman state archive. Its refined modeling points to a high-status public monument.
