Garlanded Woman

300
This mosaic (2nd–3rd cc.) shows a garlanded woman framed by a patterned border. Found in a cubiculum (bedroom), it reflects the Roman taste for richly decorated domestic interiors. Her identity is debated—she may evoke a season, a muse, or even Dionysus in feminine form. Such ambiguity reflects how Roman household art blended myth, allegory, and personal symbolism.
