Riga Trading Ship Hull

227
Recovered from Riga’s medieval harbor in 1939, this oak-and-pine hull belonged to a 14.3-meter clinker-built cargo ship (13th c.). Its preserved frame provides rare evidence of early Baltic maritime engineering. The ship reflects Riga’s emergence as a major Hanseatic trading port connecting Northern Europe’s river and sea routes.
