Rider and Horse Gear

These artifacts (12th–13th cc.) show the close coordination of rider and horse through buckles, bit fragments, spurs, and a preserved leather shoe. Such equipment formed part of the standard gear of mounted warriors, ensuring secure saddles, controlled movement, and traction on icy ground. Their survival demonstrates how horsemanship structured mobility, status, and warfare in medieval Riga.
