Forum of Caesar

Begun by Julius Caesar (54–46 BC), this forum was Rome’s first imperial extension beyond the old Forum Romanum. The surviving Corinthian column belonged to the Temple of Venus Genetrix, honoring Caesar’s divine ancestry. The forum reflects the growing personalization of political power in the late Republic.
