Clio the Muse
This mosaic from the Severan period (late 2nd–early 3rd cc.) depicts Clio, the Greek Muse of history. One of the nine Muses, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, Clio presided over the arts and sciences, often shown with a scroll or book. The mosaic reflects Roman appreciation for Greek mythology, illustrating the enduring legacy of classical culture.
