Paracas Textile Techniques
The Paracas culture excelled in textile techniques influential in Peruvian craftsmanship. Their methods, linked to social status and function, included knotting for nets, looping for 3D textiles, and various loom constructions. Initially using cotton, they later added camelid fibers, especially for funerary wrappings. They developed kelim tapestry, double cloth, and discontinuous weft and warp techniques, creating garments like mantles and unkus .
