Chancay culture (9th–15th cc.) used membranophones in rituals, their sound shaped by skin stretched over ceramic bodies. This group shows a duck, evoking water and fertility; a feline, symbol of power and liminality; and a human figure, likely a ritual performer. Known as bombo or tambor , and akin to highland tinyas , such drums joined music, myth, and sacred performance.
