Karwa Tradition Textile Fragments
These textile fragments from Karwa, Ica, date from 1500 BC to 100 AD and are the largest of their kind discovered. They feature religious symbols painted with brushes or cotton swabs, using flexible stencils for repeated designs. Predominant colors include brown, red-orange, and turquoise. Likely used for religious indoctrination or ceremonial attire, these textiles were easily transported, facilitating cultural exchange alongside ceramics and other goods.
