This gilded cedar altarpiece (1593–1611) honors the life and vision of St Francis of Assisi. Its layered niches house saints and biblical scenes, crowned by a radiant wood sunburst. Mudéjar latticework and Renaissance reliefs converge in a masterpiece of colonial devotion and Andean craftsmanship.
